7.2 Play Date Canceled

Hey MOPS friends,

We are canceling tomorrow's play date at TN River Park in light of the record high temperatures.  Some weather reports I've found say it will be a bit cooler tomorrow, and some say still dangerously hot.  Let's be on the safe side and keep our kids indoors!  If the weather cools off, we could have an impromptu play date late in the week, so I will keep you guys posted if anything develops.

Also, if you're on Facebook and you're not already a member of our MOPS page, please join the group!  It's a great way to connect about things going on in the lives of other MOPS moms as well as communicate about things like last minute changes to play date plans :)

First Summer Play Date - Wednesday!

Join us for our first summer play date on Wednesday of this week.  We'll be meeting at the St. Elmo Community Playground, which is located at 4909 St. Elmo Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37409.  We'll meet around 10, but feel free to come whenever you can - it's a very informal drop-in affair.  You could even bring a picnic lunch and stay a while! 

Also, be sure to bring plenty of water/drinks, as I don't think there's a water fountain there (I don't remember seeing one, anyway).  The weather channel says the weather looks good, so I don't think we'll run into any problems there.

May Outing - Creative Discovery Museum!

Greetings MOPS moms,

We're excited about our May outing this Wednesday.  We'll be meeting at the Creative Discovery Museum downtown for a morning of fun with friends.  This is an RSVP only event, as MOPS is subsidizing the trip for members.  Let us know if you want to come (if you haven't already!), and we'll send you more info.  Should be lots of fun!

April Meeting - Discipline...

Hey Mops Moms!


It's time for our April Meeting already - wow, time is flying this spring! Tomorrow we will welcome Dr. Timothy Sisemore to speak to us about troubleshooting discipline problems.  He's the Director of Research and Professor of Psychology and Counseling at Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga and Atlanta. He maintains a practice in clinical psychology at the CBI Counseling Center in Chattanooga and specializes in anxiety disorders. He also is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and author of several books about child behavior and christian counseling.  What a great resource!


The nursery opens at 9:15, and we'll have fellowship and refreshments for the moms upstairs until 9:45 when we start the program.  Hope you can join us!

March Meeting - Getting Organized!

Come hear some great organizational tips that might influence your spring cleaning from our local expert and overall lovely lady, Diane Denham. February Meeting: Love is in the air!

This month, we welcome guest speaker Julie Baumgardner from First Things First, who will be talking about building a strong marriage.  Julie's always a favorite speaker, and I'm sure it will be a great time!  As always, our nursery opens at 9:15, and we'll begin the program around 9:45.  

If you are coming for the first time, you will want to park in the lot on Douglas Street (the church is at 554 McCallie Ave on the corner of McCallie and Douglas) and walk across Douglas to the nursery entrance with the big awning.  There will be lots of MOPS helpers there to greet you and direct you where to go.

Valentine's Crafts at First Pres

Join us this morning at 10 as we get hands on with the kiddos making Valentine's Day crafts, and hanging out with other moms! We'll also have a story time and a special snack! Meet in the K Sunday School room (on same level as our meetings, at the end of the hall next to the Train room). Hope to see you there!

January Meeting Tomorrow!

Hi, MOPS moms! We have our next meeting tomorrow morning at 9:30 at First Pres. (corner of Douglas and McCallie; park in the lot on Douglas and enter through the nursery under the awning). We'll be hearing from Robin Hennen, a local pediatric nurse who is wonderful at fielding questions! So, bring those questions that you remember the moment you walk out of the pediatrician's office and join us for a fun morning out.
