MOPS Christmas Celebration

This is just a reminder that our December MOPS meeting will be tomorrow, 12/7 beginning at 9:30 in our regular meeting place. Esther Starcher will be sharing her story of what God has been teaching her through being Michael and Ben's mom; Esther and Dan adopted Michael last Christmas, so this is a particularly special time of year for their family. We will also have an ornament exchange and enjoy some fellowship and Christmas refreshments. Ornaments can be something off your tree, something handmade, something you want to get rid of....you get the idea! :) I hope that each of you will be able to join us for this fun Christmas celebration.

Change of Plans - Indoor Play Date at First Pres

St. Elmo park (our original plan for play date location) is going to be a muddy mess!  Instead, we are going to have an indoor play date at the same time (Wednesday at 10 am) at the church.  We will meet in the Train room, which is on the same level as the Fellowship Hall (the level above the nursery).  This will be a simple, free play date - there are lots of toys to play with and a little space to run around.  If anyone wants to bring some kind of activity, that's great.  I think just having a change of scenery will help after these rainy days!

Also, there is a 1:20 showing of Winnie the Pooh at the Regal Cinema at Hamilton Place.  It's only $1.   We'll plwy it by ear, but if any of you want to show up at 10 or 10:30 for the playdate at church, have lunch together, and then take in the 1:20 movie, that might make for a big ole day of fun. :o)

Thanks, and hope to see you tomorrow!

August Activities

Hi all!

Happy August! We have several fun MOPS activities planned this month, and I hope you can join us!

Tomorrow, August 3, we will have our next summer play date at the Pumpkin Patch on Signal Mountain. It's a great shady place! We'll plan to meet at 10am. Directions: 1836 Taft Hwy, behind the Walden Town Hall.  From Chattanooga, take Hwy 27N to the Signal Mountain Rd exit.  Follow this road up the front of the mountain. The Pumpkin Patch will be on the right just past Ayala's Mexican Restaurant.

We also have a brand new play date: next Monday, August 8, Charlotte Huffaker has invited us to come to her home for a day of water play! Charlotte is one of our mentor moms and is a wonderful encouragement to all of us.  Bring your bathing suits (and sunscreen and whatever else your kids need for a day outside) for a fun time playing on a small water slide, baby pool, or bubble station. Charlotte will have a cooler with drinks. The play date will be from 10am - 1pm. Please bring a picnic lunch for you and your crew. Email me for directions.

We will be wrapping up our summer Bible study on Galatians with three more studies this month: August 10, 24, and 31. You are more than welcome to jump in. Email me for further info and directions if you're interested!

We also have a play date at Coolidge Park on August 17 at 10am. We'll give you more info on that one as it gets closer.

Please pass the word on to friends if you know someone who would enjoy these activities, too.

Hope you've had a wonderful summer!
Kate

We get our books tomorrow.  We welcome you!

We added a date at the end to be able to get through 6 chapters (Aug 31).  Here is the schedule of teachers:

June 29 – Jean
July 27th- Jean
Aug. 10th -Katie
Aug. 24th- Katie
Aug. 31- Katie?

All meetings will be from 10:00 to 12:00. We will meet at Kristen's house; please email Kristen or Kate for directions.  We will have babysitters to watch the kids here in a separate area from where we are meeting. The cost is just $10 for the book. MOPS is covering the cost for child care. The first meeting is an introduction and you do not need to read anything before coming. For those of you who go to First Presbyterian, this is the same Bible study that the GAP leaders did on Tuesdays in the spring.  They will continue in the fall on Tuesday mornings, and you are welcome to join them if you would like.

Trusting Your Mommy Intuition

I can't believe that we are about to have our last meeting for the year!  We are so excited to have Charlotte Huffaker come and speak to us on "Trusting Your Mommy Instinct." Remember--the MOPPETS kids program starts at 9:15. We have some time to enjoy coffee and snacks and then the adult program begins at 9:45.

We also have an opportunity to serve our missionaries by bringing gently used clothes, shoes, diaper bags, and luggage.  Please see if you can gather one bag of items to bring on Wednesday. They are in great need of older children's clothing (size 6-11) if you have any of those.  If you bring it to MOPS, we will get it to the right place.

Thanks,
Kristen

Creating Memories at MOPS!

Don't miss our MOPS program tomorrow at First Pres!  Jean Hawkins will be teaching us how to do mini scrapbooks for our families.  She asked us to bring about 20-25 photos.  She said to either bring ones that are copies or photocopies (not heirlooms) because we will be trimming them to fit in the books.  Bring scissors or paper cutters also if you have them.  She will supply all of the rest of the materials.  I would like to encourage you to come as early as you can tomorrow so that you have as much time as possible for our craft.  The nursery opens at 9:15.

March 2 at the Aquarium

We are planning on meeting at the Aquarium member’s entrance at 10:00 when it opens.  We are asking that everyone who has a membership bring their card and those that do not bring $5 per person to go toward the cost of admission.  Children 3 and under are free.  MOPS is subsidizing the rest.  We hope to see everyone there!

If you have not replied to the previous e-mail please let us know if you are planning on coming and if you have a membership (lamberry@comcast.net).  We want to get a general count before we approach the admissions counter.  However, if you wake up on Wednesday morning and all children are well and you decide to come last minute, please do!  We welcome you.

MOPS this Wednesday!

Hi everyone!

We are ready for MOPS on Wednesday!  Robbin Henon, RN, with Highland Pediatrics will be sharing some useful information on childhood illnesses and practical tips for moms.  She has a wealth of information and is very easy to talk to.  Bring your questions and she will be happy to answer them.
As with every winter event we pray that everyone is well enough to come.  Just a reminder that if your child has had a fever in the 24 hours prior to the event please keep them home to recover.  Thanks!   If you will not be able to make the meeting please email me (lamberry@comcast.net) and I will let Marilyn know for the kids program.
